Birthday interview with Cecilie and Amalie Moosgaard – Chapter 2

Updated November 2025

The second year of LIÉ STUDIO was one of movement - fast-paced and full of lessons! From sold-out collections and inventory delays to new operational challenges, it was a year defined by problem-solving and persistence.

In this second part of our anniversary interview series, we revisit the second year - a chapter that taught us how to transform momentum into structure and intuition into intention.

LIÉ STUDIO YEAR THREE
Q: Looking back, what stands out the most from Lié’s second year?

Cecilie:
We often talk about year two as one big blur. We were running fast, growing quickly, and trying to keep up with demand. In that second year, we faced so many challenges as a growing company and learned everything the hard way - from being sold out, to inventory delays, new operations, and everything in between that comes with scaling a business. It was a tough year, but one filled with valuable lessons.

Amalie:
Year two felt like one long, continuous sprint. We were suddenly faced with the realities of growth, where intuition alone wasn’t enough anymore. But those challenges also forced us to mature - both as a brand and as a team. We had to become more intentional and more solution-oriented to keep up with the momentum.

Q: Which design from year two still feels the most“you” today?

Amalie:
I think the Julie Earrings, perhaps. They’re a perfectly timeless pair that still feels relevant today. At that time, we were designing very intuitively - creating pieces we felt were missing and genuinely wanted to wear ourselves. The Julie Earrings represent that perfectly. They have just the right amount of dangle and stand out, while still feeling effortless and wearable for every day. Even now, they feel like a natural extension of who we are and how we approach design.

Cecilie:
Even though our product assortment has grown so much since then - both in scale and in expression - the Julie Earrings still feel completely aligned with our design language today. It’s a piece that has remained relevant, wearable, and true to the Lié universe, even as we’ve evolved and expanded.
